Chuck Mick, 96, of Oskaloosa, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Charles Lewis Mick, son of Orle and Myrle Tandy Mick, was born August 29, 1927, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Chuck was a 1945 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy following graduation.

Chuck served as a yeoman and was stationed in San Diego, California. Upon his discharge, he returned to Oskaloosa and attended AIB in Des Moines for two years.

Following his education, he was employed by his stepfather, N.H. Krizer on Krizer Seed Farm.

On September 2, 1950, Chuck married Jacquelyn R. Elkin. One son, Randy, was born into this union.

Chuck and Jackie moved to their farm on Highway 163 in 1963, where he raised seed corn for Pierson Seed Corn Company. In 2000, he and Jacquie turned the farm over to their son, Randy, and they moved into Oskaloosa.

Chuck and Jacquie had a lot of fun together: they went on summer boating and fishing excursions in Minnesota for 40 summers; they spent their winters at their home in Florida for 20 years. They loved golfing and the numerous friendships and activities at the old Elmhurst Country Club and in Florida. Chuck was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Kaaba Shrine, and the American Legion member. He served on the board of directors at Shady Lodge Retirement Village for several years. Chuck was also a member of the Elks Lodge and the First Christian Church.

His family includes his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Diane Mick of Oskaloosa; two beloved step-grandsons, Dustin and Vince Hargrave; three beloved step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; and his beloved brother-in-law and wife, Rick and Cathie Elkin of Cummings, IA.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by Jacquelyn, his wife of 72 years on July 14, 2023; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Conrad Livingston; and Virginia and Homer Thatcher.

A memorial service will be held at Langkamp Funeral Chapel for Chuck and Jacquie on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastors Robert and Molly Goodrich of the First Christian Church officiating.
The Oskaloosa Honor Guard will present Military Honors.
As was his wish, his body has been cremated.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.
