Charges Against Former Oskaloosa Police Officer Dismissed
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Charges of domestic abuse assault against a former Oskaloosa Police Officer have been formally dismissed. Janay Pritchett was arrested and charged on May 4, 2018, after an altercation between a former girlfriend at a residence in Oskaloosa. According to a motion to dismiss filed by Assistant Poweshiek County Attorney Timothy Dille on April 15, the special prosecutor in the case, the victim in the case no longer wishes to testify.
“The Victim, in this case, has left the State of Iowa and has communicated to the State of Iowa that she has no intention of returning to testify in this matter and it is her desire that the charges be dismissed,” Dille wrote.
Later, on April 15, District Associate Judge Rose Ann Mefford granted the motion to dismiss.
“The Court, upon application of the prosecuting attorney and in the furtherance of justice, dismisses the pending criminal prosecution with costs assessed to the State,” Mefford wrote in the order.
