Bailey, Weltch Named Scholar-Athletes
Oskaloosa–Two members of the William Penn women’s track and field teams were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Track and Field Scholar-Athletes.
Tamara Weltch (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Human Services/Sociology) earned her first laurel with a 3.78 Grade Point Average, while Rosemary Bailey (So., Fayetteville, Ark., Communications) collected her second honor (one in cross country) with a 3.75 GPA.
The NAIA announced that 313 women’s track and field athletes were awarded the laurel.
To be eligible, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
