Allan McKee, 76, of Oskaloosa passed away Saturday, February 22, 2013, at his home in Oskaloosa.

Allan David McKee, son of Albert and Betty (Smith) McKee, was born, April 29, 1937, in Montezuma, Iowa. He was a 1955 graduate of Montezuma High School.

Allan lived in California for a brief period after high school, while there he worked at a dairy and restored and detailed cars. Upon his return to Oskaloosa he attended William Penn College. Following his education he worked at Clow Valve Company and later he started Al’s Salvage, which later was renamed Al’s Auto Sales. In 1978, Allan began working at Vermeer Mfg.; he worked there for over 20 years as a machinist. While still at Vermeer, Allan opened Jack’s Shop which became Video Connection. He loved collecting cap guns and Oskaloosa memorabilia.

Allan’s family includes his children: David (Debbie) McKee of Leighton, Dennis (Brenda) McKee of Harvey, Babs (and fiancé, Greg Carolan) Dykstra of Solon, IA, and Barbi (Tracey) Stewart of Austin, TX; his ex-wife, Barbara McKee of University Park; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a brother, Clarence McKee of Oskaloosa; a sister, Maxine; and a sister-in-law, Donna McKee of Gainesville, FL and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lester McKee.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2014, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rodney DeRonde of Fellowship Bible Church officiating.
Burial of his ashes will be in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon, Thursday, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be present from 4-6 p.m. to greet visitors.
Memorials may be made in his name and will be determined at a later date.
