Alberta Den Hartog, age 84, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the MHP Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 7, 1938, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Bone) Holub.

Alberta graduated from Oskaloosa High School and later attended beauty school in Des Moines.

On July 17, 1957, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Den Hartog in Lancaster, Missouri. They shared 54 years of marriage together until Kenneth passed away in 2012.

Alberta worked at Holub’s Green House for several years until going to work with her Husband at Ken’s Tools and Furniture. She remained working there for over 43 years until retiring in 2020.

Alberta enjoyed collecting glassware and knick-knacks, watching her favorite western shows, shopping for a good bargain and going out to eat. She loved her Pepsi and anything Mickey Mouse.

She is survived by her two daughters: Linda Selby and Deb Philpot both of Oskaloosa; 6 grandchildren: Clarissa (& Todd) Reitzler, Nicole (& Bill) Louderback, Krystal (& Todd) Phillips, Mandy (& Scott) Hudnut; Matt (& Astin) Lisk and Brooke (& Robert) Lorenz; 8 great grandchildren; her siblings, Shirley Holub-Masterson, Buddy (& Eileen) Holub, Jerry (& Cindy) Holub and Mike (& Diane) Holub.

In addition to her husband, Alberta was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Dennis Selby.

As was her wish, a private family burial was held at Forest Cemetery. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
