Carl Drost and Joe Crookham, longtime board members and youth sports advocates from MCRF, introduced plans for a concession stand & bathroom facility for youth soccer Tuesday night, August 7th, at the MCRF Board meeting. The two members shared drawings, including location and design of the project. Drost recently talked with Oskaloosa Food Product’s Blair Van Zetten about building the facility for the youth soccer at the Lacey Recreation Complex. Oskaloosa Food Products supported the much wished for project and quickly came on board. Brad Hodges and Jason Van Zetten, along with youth soccer player Driver Van Zetten, attended the board meeting to present a check to MCRF, giving a $50,000 donation. MCRF board member, Carl Drost introduced the partnership and shared with those present the importance of youth sports and why the project was considered, emphasizing, “It’s all about these soccer kids, that’s why we do it!” Several MCRF Board members have been involved with the youth soccer club to raise additional funding for the project. Joe stated the club funds raised will help with extras such as shade cover and other amenities for the building. MCRF and MCSC (soccer club) will continue fundraising for the project this fall. All were grateful for the Osky Foods donation for making the project possible!
