Identifying Prairie Flowers Presentation

Iowa State University Extension

Learn how to identify common prairie flowers and how to add more native blooms to your landscaping to help our pollinators on Tuesday, April 11 at 7 pm! Trees Forever is a not profit charitable organization founded in 1989. Hannah Howard has been the SE Iowa Field Coordinator for Trees Forever since 2013. She is an Iowa State University graduate with degrees in Forestry and Animal Ecology with an emphasis in forest ecosystem management and interpretation of natural resources. She is passionate about trees (of course) and helping connect people to the natural world. Her favorite part of working for Trees Forever is educating Iowans about native plants and trees.

This event will be held at the Mahaska County Extension office, 212 North I Street, Oskaloosa. It is hosted by the Mahaska County Master Gardeners and is open to the public and there is no fee to attend. Mahaska County Master Gardeners are celebrating their fourteenth year. The local program organized after the county held their first training. The educational volunteer program, sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, provides current, research based, home horticulture information and education to the citizens of Iowa through programs and projects. Master Gardeners receive horticulture training, and volunteer to promote a mission of education and service. The program is open to anyone 18 or older with an interest in gardening and a willingness to use their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to make a positive impact on their local community.

More information regarding horticulture programming can be found at the Mahaska County Extension Office; 212 North I Street; Oskaloosa Phone 641-673-5841; and www.extension.iastate.edu/mahaska/yardgarden.htm.
