MHP Massage Therapist Esther Rose Trained in New Massage Techniques

Mahaska Health Partnership

MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership’s newest Massage Therapist, Esther Rose, recently received training in Himalayan salt stone massage and headache relief techniques.

For those looking for a hot stone massage, Himalayan salt stones are a great option. “These stones are used during the massage to help release negative ions into the air when heated,” Rose explained. “They are a smooth, consistent shape and when heated, help melt restrictive fascia to allow muscles and joints to loosen up.

“The reason these stones are beneficial is because they are naturally antibacterial and anti inflammatory,” Rose continued. “They can help relieve muscle cramps by absorbing magnesium while also smoothing and moisturizing the skin. These stones also purify the air and contain 84 minerals that may help detoxify the body.”

Other benefits from a Himalayan salt stone massage may include reduced insomnia, stress and blood pressure. “These stones can help increase circulation throughout the body, aid in replacing lost electrolytes and minerals and improve sleep,” Rose shared. “There are also different stone shapes to help reach specific spots to provide maximum benefit.”

Along with stone massage, Rose recently completed training to help relieve headaches. “Deep tissue massage techniques can be utilized to relieve multiple types of headaches,” Rose explained. “For those who suffer from frequent headaches, this could be a non-invasive technique to try and alleviate pains.

“I can either add in headache relief maneuvers to a regular deep tissue massage or focus solely on a person’s neck and head,” Rose continued. “By working on the scalp and neck muscles, massage can help reduce the frequency, duration and intensity of headaches.”

These techniques, along with prenatal, relaxation, deep tissue, reflexology and chair massages are available through MHP Massage Therapy. Massages are available in 30, 60 or 90 minute increments Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays by appointment. For more information or to schedule a massage today, call 641.672.3181.
