The 2016-17 Oskaloosa Boys Swim Team finished their season as they wrapped it all up with their banquet. Coach Bolibaugh led the night off by talking about the season on what went great and on what areas there were still improvement needed. After that he started going through the awards, broken records and handing out the newly earner club shirts as he called all of the swimmers up to the front.

There were 5 high school swim records that were broken this year by the team. Jarod Miller broke the 200 Freestyle record in a time of 2:04.65 and he broke the record in the 500 Freestyle by swimming a time of 5:39.88. Jack Miller broke the other 3 records this year as he lowered his 100 Backstroke record to a time of 1:00.60, the 200 IM record to a time of 2:13.79 and he broke the old 100 Fly record by swimming it in a time of 1:01.23. After talking about the records he explained to everyone what it took to win a Sub-Club shirt. They are earned by swimming either a 30 second or 25 second or under times in a 50 yard event in all 4 strokes and in the 100 yard events they can earn a sub 60 second shirt or a sub 55 second shirt in all 4 stokes as well depending on their times.

The 4 freshman went first as Carson Abrahamson earned a letter and the Freestyle sub-30 club shirt. Jack Dawson earned a letter and the Freestyle sub-25 club shirt. Colin Fiechtner earned a letter and the sub-30 shirt Freestyle, and a sub-60 Freestyle shirt. Owen Gordon was next earning a letter and the sub-30 and sub-60 Freestyle club shirts. Next up was the lone sophomore as Jarod Miller added to his collection earning a bar a new sub-30 Fly, and a sub-55 Freestyle club shirts. The juniors stepped up as Ean Beenken earned his bar and maintained his shirt collection with what he earned last year. Jack Miller was up next and earned his bar, sub-55 Freestyle and a sub-30 Fly club shirts. Jack also earned 2 of the larger awards as he was voted the most valuable swimmer and he was the lone Iron Man this year as he did not miss any practices or meets. Next up was senior, Colton Berg, who earned another bar as he was on the swim team for 3 years and now is moving on to the next stage in his life. Good Luck, Colton!

After taking some time to eat a great meal furnished by the parents it was time for the final awards and gifts. Jack and Ean presented Colton with his senior gift which all of the swimmers chipped in for and he told the crowd his greatest moments and his future plans. The parents then surprised the coaches with a gift before ending the official part of the banquet. Afterwards many pictures were taken of the swimmers, family and friends while plans for next year were already being developed.
