Leah Lomax, 95, of Knoxville and formerly of Bussey passed away Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017, at the Griffin Nursing Home in Knoxville. Leah Frances Lomax, daughter of Morgan and Bertha Ellen (Edwards) Robinson, was born August 6, 1921, in Lovilia, Iowa.

Leah was raised in Lovilia and attended school there. She married Wilmer James Lomax in March of 1940 in Unionville, Missouri.

Leah and Wilmer made their home in Loviila where Leah worked in the post office as a clerk. She later became the postmaster at the Hamilton post office. She served the communities of Hamilton and Lovilia for 30 years in the post offices. In addition to her post office duties, Leah also owned and operated the Bussey Café for 12 years in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Leah attended the Bussey United Methodist Church and later the Nazarene Church of Bussey. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.).

Leah enjoyed walking, collecting antique dolls, shopping and feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Swanson of Knoxville; and a good friend, Grace Bonnett of Bussey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; three sons: Danny Morgan Lomax, Robert William Lomax, and Robert Lyle Lomax; a son-in-law, Gary Swanson; and ten brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Leah will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brad Hansen of the Bussey Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral chapel. The family will be present from 12:30 p.m. to service time on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to HCI Hospice Services.
