Oskaloosa–The Statesmen men’s track and field team returned to the top 25 as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its second outdoor ranking today.

William Penn is ranked #25 (up from #43 last week) with 96.31 points, highlighted by 28.27 points from national qualifier (high jump) Cornelius McCastle (So., McKinney, Texas, Industrial Technology) in the high, long, and triple jump.

Fellow national qualifier (discus) Derek Seddon (So., Knoxville, Iowa, Physical Education) notched 19.77 points in the discus and hammer throw, while Neiman Thompson (Jr., Rockville, Md., Physical Education) currently has 18.30 points in the 200 and 400-meter dashes.

WPU’s 4×100, 4×400, and 4×800-meter relay teams are all competing well, collecting 26.37 after last weekend.

Also receiving points are CJ Watts (Jr., Rockville, Md., Physical Education) (400-meter dash, 2.44 points), Romel Marzette (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Sociology) (100-meter dash and long jump, 1.08 points), and Kalob Gist (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Business Management) (shot put, 0.08 points).

The NAIA’s top five is Indiana Tech, Oklahoma Baptist, Concordia (Ore.), British Columbia, and Wayland Baptist (Texas). Grand View is the next team for the Midwest Collegiate Conference, ranking 55th with 33.95 points.

The Statesmen women are currently 82nd with 10.93 points. Meaghan Foster (Jr., Centerville, Iowa, Physical Education) has claimed most of the tally with 9.90 points in the shot put, the same event in which she has qualified.

The 4×800-meter relay team has 0.60 points, while Emma Hoerr (Jr., Chillicothe, Ill., Physical Education) has 0.35 points in the discus and Alyssa Phillips (So., Gurnee, Ill., Communications) has 0.08 points in the high jump.

Wayland Baptist (Texas) is first in the nation, while Indiana Tech, Concordia (Neb.), Oklahoma Baptist, and British Columbia finish off the top five. Grand View is topping the MCC in 25th with 83.85 points.
