Gracia Burnham, Former Hostage of Militant Muslim Terrorists Speaking at Fellowship Bible Church

Fellowship Bible Church which is located at 1000 A Ave. West in Oskaloosa, IA, will be privileged on September 7 at 6:00pm to have Gracia Burnham share her refreshingly honest story of faith in the midst of terror and tragedy.

Martin, a New Tribes Mission pilot & Gracia Burnham were kidnapped by militant Muslim terrorists while on Palawan celebrating their anniversary. They ended up spending a perilous year of captivity in the Philippine jungle running from the military, sleeping out in the open, facing near starvation, constant exhaustion, frequent gun battles with bullets whizzing past their heads as they hugged the ground and coldhearted murder. During this time, they did some intense soul-searching about a God who it seemed to them had forgotten them. As the months rolled on, they comforted their fellow hostages, befriended their guards and began to see them as the needy kids they were, and experienced their hatred for their captors replaced with concern and even love for them.

On June 7, 2002, after 376 days as hostages, their captivity ended in a violent rescue attempt in which Martin was killed and Gracia was wounded but rescued.

Gracia Burnham is the author of the New York Times bestselling book “In the Presence of My Enemies”, author of the popular new book “To Fly Again” and founder of The Martin & Gracia Burnham Foundation which seeks to support world missions through Missionary Aviation, Muslim Ministries, The Persecuted Church and Tribal Missions.
