Jack L. Stout, 71, of Oskaloosa passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, at his home in Oskaloosa.

Jack Lee Stout, son of Elbert and Elsie Juanita (Roberts) Stout, was born June 28, 1942, in Taintor, Iowa. He was a 1960 graduate of New Sharon High School.

Jack enlisted in the Air Force following his education and served until March of 1964. While in the Air Force he became acquainted with the electronics field and after his discharge he moved to California where he worked in research and development for several electronics companies including Packard-Bell, Motorola and General Dynamics.

In 1974, Jack returned to Mahaska County and settled in Oskaloosa where he worked for the Mahaska County Road Department. In 1978, Jack was hired for his electronic and computer expertise by Kentron International which required a move to Marshall Island, located between Hawaii and Australia. He worked for Kentron for ten years, returning to Oskaloosa in 1988 and taking a job with Clow Valve Company in their machine shop. He retired in 2004.

Jack married Diana Reese Walker, July 20, 1979. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed following his grandsons in wrestling and coaching Junior League Bowling.

Jack’s family includes his step-daughters and their families: Kathy Walker and his granddaughters: Stephanie Walker; Susie (Chris) Milburn and his grandchildren: Heather (Eric) Pilcher and great grandchildren, Aracelli and Andrew; Ashley (Mike) Sickels and great grandchildren, Reese Milburn Van Wyk and Caine Sickels; Danielle (Aron) Scott and great grandchildren, Karlyn and Gabriel; and Beth (Bob) Brown and his grandsons: Seth and Trent Brown, all of Oskaloosa; a brother: Bobby Ray (Linda) Stout of Cedar Rapids, IA; a sister: Shirley Rienstra of San Jacinto, CA; and a brother-in-law: Cliff Den Hartog of Knoxville; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Anita Brady of Oskaloosa.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife Diana of 27 years; two sisters: Gayle Den Hartog and an infant sister, Sharon Kay Stout; and a brother, Earl Franklin Stout who died at age three in an auto accident.

Graveside Memorial Services for Jack will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, at Forest Cemetery with Pastor Charlie McMillan officiating.
Those attending the service should use the North 9th ST entrance to the cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon, Sunday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be present from 1-3 p.m. to greet visitors.
Memorials may be made to the Eagles Lodge or MHP Hospice Services.
