William B. Fisher, 92, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, April 04, 2014, at the Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab. Center in Oskaloosa.

Bill was born February 1, 1922, in Evans, Iowa, the son of Robert R. and Mary M. Ridpath Fisher. On June 19, 1943, he was united in marriage to Imogene Ross at Lancaster, Missouri. Imogene died January 5, 2014. The two of them lived in Wright following their marriage. In 1963, they moved to Oskaloosa.

Bill worked for the ASCS office in Oskaloosa, retiring from there in 1974. He worked for the Mahaska County Highway Department and retired from there in 1984.

Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting with friends, gardening, tinkering in the garage, and playing cards.

Bill’s family includes two children: Wanda Van Roekel of Des Moines and William R. Fisher of Columbia City, Indiana; four grandchildren: Norman (& Jennifer) Van Roekel, Nancy Van Roekel, Paula Fisher, and Billie Jo (& Brook) Miller; nine great grandchildren: Joe Van Roekel, Nick Van Roekel, Taylor Vander Well, Madison Vander Well, Bailey Fisher, Grant Lyle, Ryan Lyle, Benjamin Miller and Quinlan Miller; two sisters: Sarah Prather of Oskaloosa and Mary Morris of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Imogene, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in law, Marilyn Fisher; and four brothers: George, Charles, Robert and Raymond Fisher.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Madison Vander Well officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family present will begin Saturday morning after 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and will continue until service time at 11.
Memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab.

Bill’s family would like to thank Dr. Tony Kuntz, Dr. David North and the entire staff at Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab. for the wonderful care they have provided for the past 5 years.
