FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY TO HOST TEA TIME
Oskaloosa, IA – The Friends of the Oskaloosa Public Library invite the public to an open house Tea Time in the Library’s Reading Garden. Special guest, Master Gardner Suzette Striegel will give a presentation on winterizing gardens. The Tea Time will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19. Striegel’s program will begin at 1:30.
The Tea Time will celebrate the contributions of the Friends of the Library and the completion of the Reading Garden. Finishing touches to the garden were recently completed by db Landscaping. The Friends of the Library used funds raised by the sale of memorial bricks to purchase the fence that was installed at the end of September.
“The Friends, along with many organizations and individuals in the community, helped make the Reading Garden possible,” said Library Director William Ottens.
The Friends of the Oskaloosa Public Library is a volunteer organization that helps the library through fundraisers and memberships. In addition to the Reading Garden, the Friends sponsored a t-shirt give away in May for “Get Caught Reading Month” and supported the annual summer reading program this year.
Friends of the Library board members will serve hot tea, cocoa and cookies at the Tea Time. In case of inclement weather, the Tea Time will be moved to the Reading Room on the second floor of the library.
