MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership will host its Free Women’s Breast Health Night on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Gateway Church of the Nazarene Youth Center in Oskaloosa.

The Women’s Breast Health Night is sponsored by the Southeast Iowa Affiliate of Komen for the Cure. MHP’s newest Family Practice Physician Dr. Bridget Shariat will be the keynote speaker for the evening. ”I have always been passionate about women’s health and I love being involved in the community so I’m looking forward to the event,” Dr. Shariat said.

Along with Dr. Shariat, a survivor will share her story and various health professionals will be on hand to provide valuable information about women’s health.“We are excited to host the 6th Annual Women’s Breast Health Night as a benefit to women in our region. This event is free to all women, and we encourage previous attendees to come back, as the information is always changing,” MHP Director of Radiology Julie Hartke said.

“Attendees enjoy excellent food and a fun evening with friends while receiving potentially life-saving information,” Hartke stressed. “We have seen a steady decline in the number of deaths related to breast cancer, thanks to programs like this that can educate women on the latest information and how to use it to their advantage when it comes to cancer prevention.”

All women are encouraged to attend this event. Women’s Breast Health Night is free, but you must pre-register in order to attend. To register for this free event, visit mahaskahealth.org or call 641.672.3369.
