September 13, 2013 – Oskaloosa, IA – Oskaloosa Rotary Club’s Great Annual Barbecue is set for Thursday, September 26th.  Local Rotarians will be in MCG Parking Lot (just west of Hy-Vee) from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM handing out a delicious meal of an 8 oz. pork chop, baked potato, baked beans and fresh rolls.

Proceeds from the barbecue go towards an annual scholarship for Oskaloosa High School students, student recognition programs, career exploration, Oskaloosa Rotary community projects, community events and youth projects.

“The barbecue itself is a great community function,” says Craig Coen, the event’s organizer.  “We try to put out around 1,250 meals, and we solicit the support of all the people here in Oskaloosa.”

Coen says the event has been going on for at least 30 years.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the event.   Advanced tickets are being sold by Rotary members and are also available by contacting Craig Coen at Oskaloosa Vision Center or by calling 641-673-4366.
