Mahaska County YMCA Announces 2nd Annual Freaky 5k Event
[Oskaloosa, Iowa] – On Saturday, October 26, join the Mahaska County Y and co-sponsor Clow Valve Company, as they host the 2nd annual Freaky 5k Run/Walk and Kids’ Fun Run. The Freaky 5k, a community event focused on fun and fitness, showcases a Kids’ Fun Run on the Community Stadium track at the Lacey Complex beginning at 8:00am, with the 5k race to follow at 9:00am. Last year’s event garnered successful registration numbers with just over 75 people participating, with a large majority of competitors vying for the coveted costume awards in both male and female divisions.
Executive Director of the Mahaska County Y, Dawn Collins, commented, “the YMCA hopes to see the Freaky 5k become an annual tradition that the community and surrounding runners look forward to participating in every year. I know last year we had a great turnout, and it was a tremendous amount of fun seeing all the runners and their different costumes. The Y and co-sponsor Clow Valve Company have found the Lacey Complex to be the perfect location to host the Freaky 5k, and look forward to another successful showing there again in 2013.”
