Oskaloosa–Dayna Sammons (Jr., Menomonee Falls, Wis., Software Engineering) was a major part of getting the Statesmen volleyball team its first winning weekend of the year and those efforts netted her Midwest Collegiate Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week honors Monday.

Sammons, now a two-time career recipient, guided William Penn (5-7) to a 3-1 record at the Knox Tournament last weekend.

The junior notched 113 sets (7.53 per game), including a high of 40 against Principia (Ill.) on Friday. In that contest, she also dug 21 opponent attacks for her second double-double of 2013. Sammons finished with at least 20 assists in all four matches. She also managed two kills, four aces, and four blocks (two solos, two assists) over the weekend.

For the year, Sammons has posted 214 assists (5.78 per game) in addition to nine kills, four aces, 64 digs, and eight blocks (two solos, six assists).

The award is the first for WPU this year.
