Lindeque in Top Ten to Lead WPU at Spring Opener

Maryville, Mo.–The William Penn men’s golf squad began its spring campaign by finishing in the middle of the pack at the Graceland Invitational Friday and Saturday.

The Statesmen placed eighth out of 14 teams at the Mozingo Golf Course with a two-day tally of 651 (331-320). #25 Ashford won the event at 587 (298-289).

Ashford’s Chien Hau Tan won tournament medalist honors at two-under-par 142 (74-68).

Byron Lindeque (So., Boksburg, South Africa, General Accounting) tied for eighth (out of 82 players) with a 151 (74-77).

Adriaan de Villiers (Sr., Akasia, South Africa, Industrial Technology) posted two scores in the 70s to tie for 15th at 154 (78-76), while Seb Stobart (Sr., Harare, Zimbabwe, Business Management) tied for 45th at 163 (84-79).

Kaden VanMaanen (Fr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Secondary Education), at 184 (96-88), and Terence Shafer (Fr., Solwezi, Zambia), at 185 (95-90), were 73rd and 74th, respectively.

Next: William Penn travels to Riverside Friday and Saturday to compete in the Ashford Invitational at the Blue Top Ridge Golf Course.
