William Penn placed sixth out of ten teams with 47 points, while Mount Mercy won the team title with 94 points.
Meaghan Foster (Fr., Centerville, Iowa, Undecided) led the navy and gold crew by tallying a pair of wins Saturday. The freshman claimed the weight throw event crown with a toss of 50-4.75, but was even better in the shot put by breaking her own school record with a distance of 41-10.
Jazmine Epps (Fr., Princeton, Texas) was also a two-time top-ten placer, finishing second in the 60-meter dash at 8.17 seconds and third in the long jump at 16-0.25.
Sade Myers (So., Honolulu, Hawaii, Elementary Education) earned a silver as well, doing so in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.06.
Fifth-place finishes came in the form of Emily Giles (Fr., New Salisbury, Ind., Elementary Education) in the long jump (15-5.75) and Alora Simmons (Fr., Newton, Iowa, Elementary Education) in the high jump (4-11.75), while Amanda Schrempf (Fr., Marshalltown, Iowa) was sixth in the shot put at 33-10.25.
Tamara Weltch (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Human Services/Sociology) placed in the top ten as well, claiming tenth place in the weight throw at 37-5.
“I thought we could have done better today, but on the flip side, we competed very well,” Head Coach Allen Friesen said. “I told our athletes we will have to bring our ‘A’ game next week for next week’s conference meet.”
