Salvation Army and Bobzilla’s Help Local Cyclists

Oskaloosa Police Department

Thanks to a donation by the Salvation Army, the Oskaloosa Police Department was able to hand out over 60 bicycle lights to cyclists who were in need of a light. This is the second summer the Salvation Army has funded this program.

Over the summer, Oskaloosa Police Officers carried bike headlights while on patrol. When officers had the opportunity, headlights were given out to riders instead of a citation or their bicycle being impounded. This program gave the officers a chance to have positive contact with cyclists, educate them about bicycle laws in Iowa and help ensure their safety by being visible after dark while on Oskaloosa city streets.

Officers again received positive feedback and appreciation from cyclists.

The Oskaloosa Police Department would again like to thank the Salvation Army for their generous donation and we would also like to thank “Bobzilla’s Bicycle Werks” for providing the bicycle headlights. Without both of their contributions, this program would not have been possible.
