Top-20 Win Keeps Statesmen Still Fifth

Kansas City, Mo.–William Penn is one of just seven teams still undefeated as the NAIA’s fifth regular season top 25 football poll was released today.

Fresh off its 19-8 win last Saturday over then-#15 St. Francis (Ill.), William Penn (6-0, 3-0 MWL) remains #5 with 261 points. The navy and gold retain the highest position in the Midwest League, while Grand View is #14, St. Ambrose is #15, and St. Francis (Ill.) is #20.

Marian (Ind.) hangs onto the top spot with 12 first-place votes (313 points), while Georgetown (Ky.) is second with the other two first-place votes. Missouri Valley and Morningside are again third and fourth in the division as the top 14 positions are the same from a week ago.

Within the state of Iowa, the Statesmen rank second behind only #4 Morningside. #11 Northwestern also represents the Hawkeye State.

William Penn travels to Leavenworth, Kan. Saturday to face St. Mary in non-conference plays at 1:30 p.m.
