Mahaska Health Partnership Donates to Area Schools

MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership Specialty Services offered sports physicals in June and July for middle and high school-age athletes. The physicals were offered at a reduced rate, and this year’s proceeds of $2,880 are now being donated back to the athletes’ schools.
According to MHP Executive Director of Specialty Services Kevin DeRonde, the sports physical program at MHP is a great way to give back to the community. “It also encourages the students to get the exam they need prior to the start of the season, and the $20 fee is a tremendous discount.”
Physicals were offered in Oskaloosa by Adult Nurse Practitioner Lisa Nelson, Family Nurse Practitioner Tina Main, Family Practice Physician Nick Messamer and Pediatrician John O’Brien, all located on the MHP campus. Family Nurse Practitioner Jill Konfrst provided sports physicals at New Sharon Medical Center.
Schools who received proceeds from the sports physical program are Eddyville-Blakesburg, North Mahaska, Oskaloosa Christian School, Oskaloosa High School, Montezuma, Pella Christian, Sigourney, William Penn and Pella High School.
“We are proud to be able to give back to the communities we serve by partnering with our area schools,” DeRonde said. “This is just one more way we are making healthcare personal for our patients, their families and our community.”
