Oskaloosa–Alan Douglas (Champaign, Ill., Lakeland CC) ended a tremendous Statesmen career with a huge honor as the 2011-2012 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-America teams were announced yesterday.

Douglas was named to the Division’s second team, being one of just two players from the Midwest Collegiate Conference to collect NAIA acclaim (59 total players).

Douglas is the program’s 11th All-American in its history, while his second-team nod is the highest since Ryan Norman was also on the ‘silver’ squad back in 2006-2007.

The senior guided the Statesmen to a 17-15 mark (12-6 MCC), including an appearance in the national tournament.

A first-team all-MCC pick last month, he averaged of 19.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He also tallied 94 assists, 25 steals, and ten blocks on the year.

Douglas posted 12 double-doubles and highlighted his year with a career-high 39 points against Ashford on January 21.

His career nearly extended one more night as he scored 36 points in an 85-81 loss to #3 Davenport (Mich.) in the first round of the national tourney, including scoring his 1,000th point in the final two seconds.

In just two seasons of play, Douglas became the 19th player in program history to join the 1,000-Point Club.

Jonathan Dunn of Northwood (Fla.) was tabbed as NABC-NAIA Division II Player of the Year.
