Randy Dean Grover

Randy Dean Grover, 61, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Atlantic, Iowa, died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at his home in Oskaloosa. He was born July 6, 1950, at Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Clifford Truman and Agnes Louise Nichols Grover. He graduated from Atlantic High School with the class of 1969. Following high school he was drafted into the US Navy. Upon his discharge from the Navy he served with the Army National Guard until 1983. Early on he worked at American Builders in Atlantic and later at Cass County Memorial Hospital for 10 years. He then went to work for Firestone in Des Moines until his retirement after 30 years of employment in 2007. After his retirement he moved to acreage outside of Lacona until moving to Oskaloosa in September of 2011 to be closer to his family. He loved fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, working on cars, painting, gardening and anything that has to do with being outdoors. He was a member of the 2nd Chance Motorcycle Club, he loved being a sponsor for alcoholics anonymous and was an inspiration for many over the years. He recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of his sobriety.

His family includes his two sons: Donnie (Renee) Grover of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Cliff Grover of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter: Tina (Scott) Van Engelenhoven of Oskaloosa; 4 grandchildren: Victoria and Richard Grover, Tyler Montalvo and Kimber Van Engelenhoven; a brother: Dan (Connie) Grover of Atlantic; a sister: Brenda (Kent) Euken of Wiota, Iowa and his ex wife and mother of his children: Karen Casey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Steve Grover.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Dale Visser officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held from 8:30 am until service time at 10 am at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. Memorials may be made to the Randy Grover Memorial Fund.
