Interment: As was his wish, Richard’s body has been cremated and a private family burial will be at Forest Cemetery
Richard passed away early Saturday morning at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa at the age of 77 years, ten months and ten days.
Richard E. Fielder, son of Roy and Opal Jones Fielder, was born April 16, 1933 in Fremont, Iowa. He attended Fremont School. From 1951 to 1955 Richard served with the Navy in Korean as a bulldozer operator with the Seabees. July 7, 1956, he married Mary Lou Allgood in Oskaloosa, where they made their home and raised their four children. Richard was employed at HG Brown Plumbing and Heating for 24 years, after which he worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Wehrle Trucking in Lynnville, Iowa for 15 years. He later worked for seven years at Hy-Vee in Oskaloosa, retiring in 2009. Following his retirement, Richard enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, westerns on TV and playing with his grandchildren.
Richard’s family includes his wife, Mary; his four children: Terry (Marla) Fielder, Dave Fielder, Cindy (Don) Howard, and Lesa (Jim) Van Der Linden, all of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn (Richard) Beach of Fremont; and a brother, Doyle (Judy) Fielder also of Fremont.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two brothers: Marvin and Dean Fielder.
Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice Serenity House.
