Bernice McClune

May 8, 1923 – February 15, 2011

Bernice McClune, 87, formerly of Keswick, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday morning and last until the time of service; family will be present from noon until time of service. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery near Thornburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the White Oak Presbyterian Church.

Bernice Irene McClune was born near Deep River, Iowa on May 8, 1923 the daughter of Robert and Mary Ellen Dougherty McClune. She attended the Deep River Township School. Bernice worked on the family farm just east of Tilton her entire life. She was an excellent seamstress and she spent her summers gardening and canning. Like most farmers, Bernice had a tremendous work ethic. She enjoyed the small miracles in life that only a Farmer would understand.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a niece, Judy Auen and a nephew, Charles Harriman.

Bernice is survived by three sisters: Naomi Johannes Thompson of Mason City, Esther Harriman of Burlington, Dorthy McClune of Malcom; two brothers: Paul McClune of Gibson and Lee McClune of Knoxville. She also leaves behind many cousins and several nieces and nephews.
