Main Street Lighted Christmas Parade – “Silver Bells”

2010 Oskaloosa Lighted Christmas Parade

Are your ears ringing? If not, they will be soon because the Main Street lighted Christmas Parade is less than 10 months away. The parade committee has met to evaluate the 2010 festivities and make plans for 2011. Most importantly they have selected the theme. By a unanimous vote, the theme selected was “Silver Bells”.

The parade is set for Thursday & Friday, December 1 & 2, 2011. The parade begins each evening at 7 p.m. The committee is putting together quality entertainment, a style show, shopping specials, a holiday concert, and more. Several area churches and service organizations are continuing to plan and organize events surrounding the Lighted Christmas Parade as well.

Oskaloosa is one of the oldest Main Street Districts in the state of Iowa. This year Oskaloosa, along with the state of Iowa, is celebrating our 25th year as a Main Street District. To help celebrate this milestone, we will honor one of Iowa’s favorite holiday events with the theme of “Silver Bells”.

Your entry can be very small or very large. Start creating your parade entries now. Remember, if the competition is important to you, the judging will be held on Thursday evening. As you begin plans for related activities please contact the OACDG to have these events placed in the Parade brochure.
