DCG Double Header Monday
GAME 1
Oskaloosa Indians stayed in it until the end, but DCG pulled away late in an 8-7 victory on Monday. The game was tied at seven in the top of the sixth when Brady Smith singled, scoring one run.
Oskaloosa Varsity Indians fell despite leading 4-0 in the second.
Oskaloosa Varsity Indians jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Colin Johnson doubled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run.
Oskaloosa Varsity Indians added one run in the second. Jake North tripled down the right field line, making the score 4-0.
DCG flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Cross Bandy on the seventh pitch of the at-bat that drove in two.
Oskaloosa Varsity Indians jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fourth when North singled, scoring one run, and Tate Peterson doubled, scoring two runs.
Jett Stock took the loss for Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Peterson began the game for Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. The pitcher allowed one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out two and walking three.
North went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Oskaloosa Varsity Indians in hits. Peterson, North, and Johnson each drove in two runs for Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. Trey Parks led Oskaloosa Varsity Indians with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Parks stole three bases.

GAME 2
Oskaloosa Indians couldn’t keep up with DCG and fell 19-2 on Monday.
DCG scored six runs on three hits in the top of the second inning. Carson Gill doubled, scoring two runs, Cross Bandy singled, scoring one run, Connor Stolpe grounded out, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, and Vinny Leto grounded out, scoring one run.
DCG added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Stolpe homered to left field, scoring three runs, and Schyvinck tripled, scoring one run.
DCG scored six runs on one hit in the top of the fourth inning. An error scored two runs, Smith was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Schyvinck singled, scoring two runs, and Javon Russell lined out, scoring one run.
Bandy earned the win for DCG. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and two runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking two. Ty Edgar took the loss for Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. The starter went one inning, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on six hits, striking out none and walking three.
Edgar and Jack Miller each drove in one run for Oskaloosa Varsity Indians.
