Oskaloosa boys track earns runner-up finish in 4×800 at Tulip Time Relays
PELLA — The Oskaloosa boys track and field team competed Thursday night at the Tulip Time Relays in Pella, continuing to show improvement across the lineup as the postseason approaches.
The Indians were led by the 4×800 relay team of Micah Van Ee, Lane Smith, Sam Nelson, and Blake Herny. The group earned a second-place finish with a time of 9:08.62.
Oskaloosa also had several strong relay performances throughout the night. The distance medley relay team placed fourth, while the sprint medley relay, 4×200 relay, and 4×400 relay teams all earned fifth-place finishes.
The 4×100 relay team also finished fifth, and Kolby Williams added an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash.
The Indians recorded 14 new personal records during the meet, showing continued growth late in the season. Athletes earning PRs included Henry Bru, Iwy Buchanan, Oscar Chambers, Jonah DeVore, Aaron Dye, Drake Heeren, Carter Jordan, Kellen Kauzlarich, Sam Nelson, Barrett Rinehart-Lynch, Aiden Todey, Micah Van Ee, and Kolby Williams.
Oskaloosa also posted four season-best marks in the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400, and 4×800 relays.
