FireHouse is an American hard rock band known for catchy songs and emotional ballads. The band formed in 1989 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Guitarist Bill Leverty and drummer Michael Foster had played together earlier in a group called White Heat. They later added singer C.J. Snare and bassist Perry Richardson to complete the lineup.

The band signed with Epic Records in 1989 after changing their name. Their first album, FireHouse, came out in 1990 and became a big hit. It went double-platinum and included popular songs like “Don’t Treat Me Bad” and “Love of a Lifetime.” In 1992, they released Hold Your Fire, which went gold and featured songs such as “When I Look into Your Eyes” and “Reach for the Sky.” FireHouse won the 1992 American Music Award for Favorite New Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Artist.

Even when grunge music became popular in the 1990s, FireHouse kept a strong fan base around the world. They continued to tour and release music. Bassist Perry Richardson left the band in 2000, and Allen McKenzie later joined in 2004. Over the years, the band has sold more than 7 million albums worldwide.

In April 2024, founding singer C.J. Snare passed away at age 64. The loss was hard for fans and band members. Nate Peck later stepped in as the new lead singer so the band could continue performing.

Earlier this year, FireHouse played a show at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, located south of Iowa City. For fans who had seen the band years ago at Veterans Memorial Auditorium, the concert brought back many memories. There was some worry about how the band would sound without Snare. However, Nate Peck did a strong job on vocals and helped bring back the classic FireHouse sound. The band still played with energy and passion, even in a smaller venue than in their early arena days.

Riverside Casino & Golf Resort hosts concerts and entertainment events throughout the year. The event center brings in national touring acts, tribute bands, and regional performers. Visitors can check the casino’s website or ticket sites to find upcoming concerts and show times. The resort also offers restaurants, hotel rooms, gaming, and golf, making it a popular destination for a night out or a weekend trip.

For fans of 1990s rock, seeing FireHouse live today can still be a fun experience. Their music remains familiar and easy to enjoy, and their live show proves the band still knows how to connect with the crowd.
