Freshman Boys Finish Season Strong With Road Win at Burlington

The Oskaloosa freshman boys basketball team closed its season last night with a hard-fought win at Burlington, ending the year on a high note after months of steady improvement. The season began back in November with a strong opening victory at Fairfield, setting the tone for a group that continued to battle through a long schedule.

During the middle of the season, Oskaloosa picked up important wins over Eddyville and Keokuk. Those games helped the team stay focused as the players worked through the ups and downs that come with a full basketball season. By the end of the year, the group was playing its best basketball. Oskaloosa won three of its final four games, beating Newton, Knoxville, and Burlington to finish the season with momentum.

The biggest story of the season was growth. The players improved their skills, learned how to compete together, and built strong relationships as teammates. The team peaked at the right time and showed how much progress they made from the first game in November to the final buzzer in Burlington. The roster featured a group of young athletes who continued to mature both on the court and in the classroom.

Attention now turns to postseason play for the varsity boys team. Oskaloosa will host Williamsburg next Monday to open tournament action. The varsity players have been working toward this moment all season, and the community is encouraged to come out and support the team as they begin their playoff run.
