Judith Wharton, age 69, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Comfort Hospice House in Pella, Iowa. She was born on March 25, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Mary (Wren) Northway.

Judy attended Pella High School and graduated with the Class of 1972.

On August 9, 1980, she was united in marriage to Rodney “Butch” Wharton in Mahaska County, Iowa.

Judy was a full-time homemaker and also worked at Casey’s General Store and Pella Corp. while taking care of her family and her home.

Judy was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafting, art, drawing, listening to Country Music and Dancing.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney “Butch” Wharton of Oskaloosa; her children: Robert (& Victoria) Northway, Ray (& Amanda) Wharton and Chad Northway; her grandchildren: Misty Northway, Chad Northway, Dalton (& Kourtney) Northway, Bobby Northway, Shelby Wharton, Hazel Wharton, Kynzee Wharton, Avery Scott Northway, Nico Perez, Nitra Perez and Douglas Northway and Dulcie Northway; 12 great grandchildren with another one on the way; and a brother, Fred (& Bonnie) Northway.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Mary; and a son, Tim Northway.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel with Father Joseph Phung officiating.
Burial will take place in Friends Cemetery in Oskaloosa following services.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Judy’s family present to greet relatives and guests.
A rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night.
