Mahaska County Storm Spotter Training

Mahaska County Emergency Management

On March 16, 2011 at 7:00pm at the ISU extension office 212 north I Street Oskaloosa IA 52577, the National Weather Service will be conducting spotter training. Severe Weather Spotters are a vital link in the timely and accurate flow of weather information into and out of weather forecast offices. This 2 hour class, sponsored by the Mahaska County Emergency Management Office, will instruct spotters on what to look for in the event of severe weather.

Every citizen of Mahaska County is encouraged to plan and prepare for the coming weather. As we all know in Iowa, the weather can change at any minute. Each home should have a NOAA weather radio, an emergency kit, and other supplies. For further information or planning ideas go to www.mahaskaready.com and follow the links on the Mahaska Ready page or contact the office at the numbers provided.

Mahaska County wants to help make all area homes and workplaces safer places to work and live. Mahaska County has partnered with Alert Works to offer safety devices that will help protect you and your family from Severe Weather Disasters and dangerous Civil Emergencies.

You can see more about the available weather radio on promotion from the link provided HERE.
