Numerous Statesmen Continue to be Ranked in Heart, NAIA

Oskaloosa–Eight members of the Statesmen men’s wrestling team are rated in the conference as the NAIA released its third set of polls recently.

149-pounder Cameron Hargrove (Fr., Bolingbrook, Ill., Undecided) heads WPU on the national scene as he is ranked 13th. Makail Stanley (Fr., Oreana, Ill., Biology) is not far behind in 15th place at 174 pounds.

Matheson Meade (Fr., Knoxville, Tenn., Exercise Science) caps the trio of nationally-rated grapplers, sitting 19th at 165 pounds.

William Penn is unofficially 39th in the NAIA with 16 points, while Grand View is first with 205 points. Life (Ga.) is a fairly-close second with 191 points, while Indiana Tech (104), Doane (Neb.) (99), and Reinhardt (Ga.) (92) round out the top five.

With eight individuals in the top six of their respective weight classes, the Statesmen are currently fourth in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with 113 points, while GVU is at the top (234).

Hargrove and Meade are both second, while Stanley and 157-pounder Steven Skewes (Fr., Duchesne, Utah, Exercise Science) are each third.

William Penn is two deep at 197 pounds with Jesse Schwery (Fr., Panama, Iowa) in fourth and Ray Lugo (So., Hollywood, Fla., Exercise Science) in fifth.

The team’s lightest wrestler, 125-pounder Nadhelo Charles-Pierre (Sr., Miramar, Fla., Sports Management), and its heavyweight wrestler, 285-pounder Branson Bottorff (So., Mackinaw, Ill., Mechanical Engineering), are both sixth as well.
