Barbara Reeves, age 57, of Des Moines and formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at her home in Des Moines. Barbara was born on January 8, 1963 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of John and Judy (McAdoo) Beadle.

Barbara attended the Oskaloosa High School and later received her GED.

On January 8, 1984 she was united in marriage to Phillip Reeves in Des Moines.

Early on Barbara worked at Job Corps until taking a job at the Oskaloosa Hotel as a housekeeper. Following her marriage to Phillip, she stayed home to care for her family and her home. In 1997 they moved to Des Moines and she worked as a custodian for the Southeast Polk Community School District. In 2000, she began working for the United States Postal Service as a mail handler until retiring in 2005. Barbara enjoyed taking trips to the casino, doing work in her yard and crossword puzzles. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren.

Barbara’s family includes her husband, Phillip Reeves of Des Moines; her children: Phillip (& Alexzandrah) Reeves of Des Moines and Jenny Reeves of Des Moines; her father, John Beadle of Oskaloosa; her grandchildren: Patrick, Damien and Grayson Reeves; three brothers: Robert Anderson of Cement, Oklahoma; Terry (& Becky) Anderson of Oskaloosa and Hershell Beadle of Noble, Oklahoma; her sisters, Marilyn (& Dave) Thomas of Oskaloosa and Sally Beadle of Oskaloosa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Judy Beadle; and a sister-in-law, Rowena Anderson.

As was Barbara’s wish, her body has been cremated and there are no services planned at this time. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
