Two Individuals Killed In Head-On Collision Monday Morning

On Monday, July 1st, 2019, at approximately 10:15 am, officials from the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a two vehicle accident on Highway 92, near the intersection of Urbana Avenue. Upon the arrival of emergency responders, it was discovered that a 2000 Chevrolet S10 pickup, which had been traveling eastbound on Hwy 92, had crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2019 Mack semi tractor/trailer which had been traveling westbound on Hwy 92.
The driver of the S10 pickup, 32-year-old Chase Matthew VonLienen of North Liberty, Iowa, and a passenger, 40-year-old Bobbie Jean Milford of Wellman, Iowa were both pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi tractor/trailer, 55-year-old Scott Anthony Wagg of Washington, Iowa was uninjured during the accident. VonLienen and Milford were later transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa where autopsies will be performed on them.
The S10 pickup was a complete loss and the damage to the semi tractor/trailer is estimated at $40,000. The investigation into this accident is continuing. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this matter by members of the Mahaska County Emergency Management Agency, the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Department of Transportation, the Oskaloosa Fire Department, the Barnes City Fire Department, the Oskaloosa Police Department, the Mahaska County Secondary Roads Department, the Mahaska County Sanitarian, the Mahaska Health Partnership Ambulance Service and the Mahaska County Dispatch Center.
