Oskaloosa Indians Secure Win Against Pella Christian Eagles

Oskaloosa Indians were triumphant over Pella Christian Eagles 13-8 on Monday.

Oskaloosa Varsity Indians got on the board in the top of the third inning after Pella Christian Varsity Eagles committed an error, and Jaden DeRonde walked, each scoring one run.

Pella Christian Varsity Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Grant Kelderman singled down the left field line, Garrett Wielard was struck by a pitch, Ben Van Wyngarden singled down the left field line, Logan Gallaher was struck by a pitch, and Hudson Meixner grounded out, each scoring one run.

Oskaloosa Varsity Indians flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on two hits to take the lead, 8-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Tate Peterson that drove in three.

Pella Christian Varsity Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a walk by Brecken Ritzert, a hit by a pitch, and a single by Connor Van Zee.

Oskaloosa Varsity Indians flipped the game on its head again in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 13-8. The biggest blow in the inning was a ground out by Jake North that drove in two.

Caden Johnson earned the win for Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. The pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Blake Gallaher took the loss for Pella Christian Eagles.

Peterson went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. North set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Oskaloosa Varsity Indians with three hits in five at bats. Parks paced Oskaloosa Varsity Indians with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game.
