The 16th Annual Youth Outdoor Field Day will be held at the Russell Wildlife Area on Saturday, September 28th. This is an outdoor event made possible by many local organizations and businesses. The goal for the day is to provide families an opportunity to experience some fun and interesting outdoor activities as a family. So come out to the event anytime between 8:00 am and noon to take part in activities such as: Dutch oven cooking, turkey hunting, monarch butterflies, water safety, archery, bowfishing, .22 rifle, BB and shotgun shooting, retriever dog demonstration, tree identification, pioneer candle dipping, mammal research station, fishing and even Oskaloosa’s police K-9 “Duke” will give a search presentation.

If your family has not already signed up for the event, don’t worry because you can still join us on the day of the event. The registration cost after Sept. 13 and through the day of the event is $10.00 per person and includes admittance to the activities.

The check-in time for pre-registered families and any registrations on the day of event will begin at 8:00 am and will continue throughout the morning. All activities will begin at 8:30 am and last until noon, except for the Oskaloosa K-9 “Duke” will who will give a one-time search demonstration at 9:00 am. A hotdog lunch will be available at noon for families that pre-registered by September 13.

Many local organizations and businesses have come together to provide a fun morning for all the families. Our goal is to connect kids and their families with the outdoors. The event will be held rain or shine. Comfortable walking shoes and water bottles are suggested. We hope you can be a part of this fun day!
