William Penn Grabs 91 NAIA Scholar-Athlete Awards

Oskaloosa–As part of its National Awards Day earlier this week, the NAIA announced its 2019-2020 Scholar-Athletes for each sport.

William Penn collected 91 total awards, led by 12 honorees from the women’s volleyball program. Football, with 11 accolades, and softball, with 10, also eclipsed double figures. Nine teams notched at least five recipients and 16 squads posted multiple award-winners.

In order to be eligible for NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must have earned a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and be listed on their team’s eligibility paperwork. Due to COVID-19, the 2019-2020 recipients needed to only have attended the nominating institution for two full years (one year for a transfer) prior to being nominated.
