WARRIORS HANDLE PANTHERS ON SOPHOMORE NIGHT

Centerville, IA – No. 2 Indian Hills Men’s Wrestling scored a school record 59 team points on its way to its second shutout of the year as the Warriors handled Ellsworth Community College 59-0 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) dual action on Wednesday night.
The Warriors kept its unbeaten dual streak in tact with Wednesday’s win, improving to 9-0 on the year, including 5-0 in conference duals. Dating back to the 2023-24 season, the Warriors have won 12 consecutive dual matches, including eight consecutive wins on their home mat.
The Warriors have outscored their opponents 345-64 on the year, tying a school record for team points in season. The Warriors are currently averaging a school record 38.3 points per dual through nine matches on the year. With the win on Wednesday night, the Warriors also set a school record for points in a single dual, largest margin of victory in a single dual, and most points at home in a single season with 205.
In a packed Multi-Purpose Building on Sophomore Night in Centerville, returning All-American Isaac Gibbs (Prosper, TX/Rock Hill) opened the night with a dominant 20-4 tech fall at 125lbs. Leading just 3-0 after the first period, Gibbs ran away down the stretch to secure the tech with over a minute remaining in the third period.
Sophomore Riley Bettich (Stevensville, MI/Crown Point) continued to leave his mark on the Indian Hills program as the All-American earned a second round pin at 133lbs. Bettich, the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the nation at 133lbs, moved to 14-0 all-time at Indian Hills in dual action.
Making his first dual appearance of the year, freshman Deontae Forest (Godfrey, IL/Alton) earned an impressive fall in just 27 seconds at 141lbs to push the Warrior lead to 17-0 through three bouts.
The Warriors scored four consecutive forfeit victories before sophomore Jaquan East (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) tallied a first round pin at 184lbs. East, ranked No. 6 in the nation at 184lbs, improved to 8-0 in duals this year after dropping Ellsworth’s Kaleb Homan in 1:46.
Freshman Naasir Edmonds (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) closed out the night with a first round pin of his own at 285lbs. Edmonds, ranked No. 9 in the nation in the heavyweight division, recorded a fall in 1:40, his fifth pin of the year.
The Warriors are the lone undefeated team in the ICCAC this year at 5-0. Indian Hills leads the conference with 195 total points for and just 40 points against in conference action.
The nine dual wins on the year and the five ICCAC victories this season are now tied for the most in school history.
The Warriors will wrap up their ICCAC regular season schedule with a trip to Estherville, IA to take on Iowa Lakes Community College on January 30.
