Oskaloosa Dominates in Bowling Face-off Against Pella

In a display of skill and teamwork, Oskaloosa’s bowling teams clinched decisive victories against Pella in both boys’ and girls’ categories. The match, held at the local bowling alley, saw the Oskaloosa boys’ team leading with a total of 3,110 pins, comfortably surpassing Pella’s tally of 2,850 pins.

“The Osky Boys couldn’t have started any better against Pella in the singles games. They built a 360-pin lead after the singles games. Osky was led by Marshal Siebert, who had the high game of the meet with a 266 game and high 2-game series with a 479 series, while Kyle McHawes, bowling in his first varsity bowling meet as a freshman, bowled games of 235 and 234 for a two-game total of 469 for his series and was 2nd high on the team. Trey VanWyk had a 245 game and a 465 2-game series as well. Cole VanderWal, in his first year of bowling, had a 2-game series of 400 with games of 187 and 213,” said Coach Tony Witt.

Witt added, “The Boys have put a lot of extra practice in getting ready for the season, and it definitely showed in their scores. We are still a young team and need to work on making the spares; they unfortunately missed quite a few but made up for that by throwing a lot of strikes.”

Not to be outdone, the girls’ team from Oskaloosa mirrored this success, scoring 2,162 pins against Pella’s 1,928. “The Osky Girls were also dominant in their win over Pella as well, winning by 234 total pins. Osky was led by Abby Tarr with the high game of 213 and the high 2-game series of 370. Kaylee Haugen had the high 2nd game with a 200 game and finished with a 336 series. Regan Abrahamson had a 164 game and was 3rd high on the team with a 303 2 game series,” Witt added.

This victory sets a promising tone for Oskaloosa’s bowling teams as they continue their journey through the season. With such a strong start, expectations are high, and the teams are more motivated than ever to maintain their winning streak.
