PELLA — Central College pitcher Dylan Diveney (freshman, Marshalltown) was recognized by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Thursday, receiving Division III national pitcher of the week honorable mention.

Diveney contributed two wins and a save last week as the Dutch went 4-2. Against Luther on Monday, he threw a complete game, allowing just five hits and one earned run over seven innings in an 11-1 victory. Saturday against Loras, the freshman took a no-hitter into the 10th inning, before a two-out bloop single ended it. He struck out five and walked one in Central’s 1-0 win.

The right-hander leads the team with a 1.65 ERA this season. He is 5-3 with 44 strikeouts and has held opponents to a .197 batting average.

It’s the third time Diveney has been cited this week for his efforts. He was named Iowa Conference pitcher of the week on Tuesday and was named to the D3baseball.com team of the week on Wednesday.
