Lloyd Leverne Schultz, 97, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Lloyd Leverne Schultz was born August 23, 1919 in Sigourney, Iowa the son of Robert and Emma Schultz.

Leverne was united in marriage to Dorothy White. To this union came two sons.

Leverne farmed over twenty years, worked four years at What Cheer Clay Products and worked twenty years for John Deere at the Moline plant.

After his retirement in 1982 Leverne and Dorothy moved back to What Cheer where he was a member of the What Cheer Opera House Band, the What Cheer United Methodist Church, and the Highland Cemetery Board. He was also a member of John Deere Teamsters Union and enjoyed collecting John Deere products.

Leverne enjoyed playing his guitar with his family and friends. He also looked forward to fishing in Minnesota every year with his friend Robert Soderbeck.

After the death of his wife Dorothy, he met his best friend Bonnie Richardson. Leverne always said his pills and Bonnie were the only things keeping him alive. Leverne and Bonnie were together twenty one years before his passing.

He is survived by his best friend, Bonnie Richardson of Keota; two sons; Larry (& Anna Coonrod) Schultz of Springville and Lorne (& Roslyn) Schultz of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren: David (& Denise) Schultz of Mt. Auburn, Troy Schultz of Cedar Rapids, Brian (& Laura) Schultz of Oskaloosa and Darwin Schultz of Austin, Texas. Leverne was also blessed with seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Leverne is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy; two sisters, Pearl Schultz and Marie Ross; and two brothers, Bill and Earl Schultz.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Visitation will be held on Saturday beginning at 10:00 am and will last until the time of the service.
Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at What Cheer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the What Cheer Opera House or to the What Cheer United Methodist Church.
