Keith E. Morgan, 83, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Rose Hill, died Friday, December 4, 2015, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Keith was born April 12, 1932, in Rose Hill, Iowa, the son of Forrest and Hazel Kirk Morgan.
Keith graduated from Rose Hill High School with the class of 1950. Following graduation he entered the United States Army, and was stationed in England during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1954.
Following the Army, Keith returned to Rose Hill and worked at Wholesale House in Ottumwa for 16 years. In July of 1956, he was united in marriage to Myrna Stevenson, they later divorced. He then went to work at John Morrell and Co. as a service manager for western Iowa, at which time they moved to Creston.
On November 8, 1975, Keith was united in marriage to Anita Lockard. In 1975, he returned to Rose Hill and he started working at Mahaska Feed and Grain. In 1986, he started driving a school bus for the Oskaloosa Community School district, retiring from there in 1999.
Keith loved the town of Rose Hill, he served as Mayor there for 23 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time at the cabin by the river, and playing Pitch. He was an active lifetime member of the Rose Hill Community Church, Knights of Pythias, and Rose Hill Ruritan Club. He delighted in spending time with his family and friends.
His family includes his wife of over 40 years, Anita Morgan of Oskaloosa; a son and his wife, Kyle & Alma Morgan of Rose Hill; a daughter and her husband, Rhonda & Steve Davis of Creston; two step sons and their wives: James & Donna Lockard of Oskaloosa, and Robert & Kim Lockard of Oskaloosa; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Erle Morgan; two great grandchildren, Kyrstin Lockard and Travis J. Provo, Jr.; a special grandma, Grandma Kirk; and a half-brother, Dean Kirk.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Del Bittner officiating.
Graveside Military Rites will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W.
Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery near Delta. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Wednesday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5-7 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Rose Hill Community Church.
