Oskaloosa–William Penn Head Women’s Basketball Coach Steve Williamson is proud to announce that Brita Hand has been named assistant coach of the program.

Hand comes to WPU from Illinois College where she served in the same role during the 2018-2019 season. In addition to various assistant duties, she also helped the squad to a strong team GPA of 3.48. Hand was also the head coach of the junior varsity team as well as the director of intramurals during her stint at IC.

“I am very happy to have Brita joining our coaching staff,” Williamson said. “She has a great mind for the game and is a tireless recruiter. Brita will do a great job developing our players and getting them to play with heart and passion, like she did as a player. She has worked for some very good coaches early in her career and I truly feel she has a very bright future ahead of her. We are lucky to have her joining our program and William Penn University.”

From 2015-2018, Hand assisted at Truman State University, headlined by the program owning a 3.60 team GPA. Hand also has a year of experience at Ashford University as well as several years being an instructor with the Point Guard College camps.

A 2015 graduate of Ashford with a degree in Physical Education, Hand also obtained her Master’s of Leadership degree from Truman State in 2017. While at Ashford, the four-year team member also earned numerous academic laurels, including being on the Dean’s List all eight semesters.

“I would like to thank Coach Williamson for the opportunity to join his coaching staff,” Hand said. “I am excited for this opportunity and to help build upon the culture of winning that Coach Williamson has already started at William Penn. I am excited to get started in helping develop our young women into champions, not only on the court, but in the classroom and in life.”
