Eve S. Jensen, 86, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa.

Eve was born on November 3, 1926, in Jefferson County, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Gracia Mae Manning Sharp. She graduated from the Hedrick High School, Parsons College in Fairfield and earned her M.A. at the University of Iowa. On March 30, 1971, she was united in marriage to Harald “Hal” Jensen in Basel, Switzerland in a civil ceremony and then on April 15 in the Black Forest. Hal died March 26, 2002. Eve was a teacher, she taught nine years of English in Iowa and twenty years overseas for the Department of Defense: three of those in Okinawa, one year in Goose Bay, Labrador, and sixteen years in Germany. Eve and Hal moved to Oskaloosa in 1981. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, People to People, AAUW, UNA, and the Oskaloosa Women’s Club. Eve was an avid writer, she has several bodies of work, some of which have been published. She and Hal had enjoyed traveling all over the world.

Her family includes a sister in law, Carolyn Sharpe of Lawton, Oklahoma; two nieces, Lisa Hodges and Lanae Fritts; four nephews and their wives, Fred and Barbara Birk, Steve and Linda Birk, Russ and Jody Birk, and John and Carol Birk.
Besides her husband, Eve was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother, Hilda; a sister, Maureen Birk; a brother, Kenneth Sharp; and a niece, Christina Birk.

A memorial service for Eve will be held Friday, March 8, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Dr. Dennis Morey officiating.

No visitation is planned.
As was Eve’s wish her body has been cremated.
Burial of the urn will be in the Tyler Cemetery at Tyler, Minnesota at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
