American Red Cross to Honor Local Heroes of the Heartland

The Ottumwa Office announces winners for the local event.

OTTUMWA, IOWA – MARCH 30, 2012. The American Red Cross of Ottumwa is celebrating and honoring common citizens, the unheralded and unselfish pillars of our community. On Friday, April 20th, from 7:00 to 9:00am, the American Red Cross will honor the following individuals at their Annual Heroes of the Heartland celebration:

Kevin Eklofe, Jason Van Antwerp, Randall Fisher, Jeremy Burnside, Leif Stokes – all from Ottumwa, IA – Rescued people from a plane crash.
Jim Keller – Albia, IA – Welcome Home Soldier Monument and Community dedication
Dr. Ryan Van Maanen – Ottumwa, IA – Ottumwa Free Medical Clinic
Kathy Burris – Fairfield, IA – McCreery Cancer Center Nurse
Dale and Eleanor Uehling – Ottumwa, IA – Life Long Commitment to Foster Children
Bobby Heriford – Centerville, IA – Rescued two people from a burning home

The Heroes of the Heartland event will take place at the Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. A breakfast will be served, followed by the presentation of awards which will begin at approximately 7:30 am.
