Grove Named Academic All-American
Oskaloosa–Brittanee Grove (Sr., Runnells, Iowa, Elementary Education) took home one of the most prestigious honors available to a collegiate student-athlete as she was named a 2015 Capital One College Division Softball Academic All-American by CoSIDA Monday.
Grove received First-Team Academic All-American status on the College Division’s Softball list. The accolade recognizes student-athletes not only for their athletic prowess but also their successes academically. The College division includes institutions within the NAIA ranks as well as Canadian universities and two-year schools.
Grove, who had a 3.87 Grade Point Average entering the spring semester, was a major player for William Penn. The first-team all-Midwest Collegiate Conference selection hit .380 (63-for-166) with 18 doubles, two triples, three home runs, 39 RBIs, and 32 runs scored. The senior posted a .566 slugging percentage and a .458 on-base clip.
Callie Beaver, a senior from Park (Mo.), was named Academic All-American of the Year.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least sophomore academic standing, be a starter or key reserve player (other playing requirements where applicable), maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full calendar year.
